THE Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called after a man fell from an overpass in York on to the A64.
Witnesses called police after the 40-year-old man was seen falling into the westbound carriageway from the Grimston Bar interchange at 11.33am on Sunday.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: βHe was lying in the road when we got there. His injuries were quite severe and he was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary.β
The man was not thought to have been hit by any vehicles, police said.
It was not clear yesterday whether his injuries were life-threatening.
The westbound carriageway was closed until 12.40pm and the eastbound carriageway temporarily closed with a rolling road block as the air ambulance landed and took off.
