A MAN is in serious condition in hospital after suffering head injuries in an attack at a house in York.

A woman was arrested when armed North Yorkshire Police officers and a dog unit were called to a disturbance at a house in Moore Avenue, off Osbaldwick Lane, at about 7.20pm yesterday.

A spokesman said the 27-year-old man suffered "a serious head injury" in the attack, and was taken to York Hospital for treatment.

He said the man's injuries were initially believed to be life threatening but he remains in hospital in a "serious but stable condition".

The spokesman said a 31-year-old man was suffered a facial injury in the incident, and taken to hospital for treatment, but was later discharged.

A 36-year-old woman was arrested over the assault, on suspicion of wounding with intent, and remains in custody for questioning.
