THE Lord Mayor of York dropped in to a York junior school to open a new wing.
Cllr Ian Gillies was at Bootham Junior School to officially open a new extension with additional teaching rooms, music rooms and an extended IT suite.
Parents, friends and contractors will be joined by the Lord Mayor and Sheriff at a special ceremony hosted by the children and staff.
Head teacher, Helen Todd, said: “Bootham Junior School is receiving unprecedented levels of interest from families, both those already in York and others wishing to move here. Although this is not simply down to the pressure on school places currently being experienced across the city, we are certainly noticing the effect that this is having.
"For us, we find that parents are attracted by all the extra things we offer here like our cultural studies programme, our residential visits and our focus on skills for independent living and learning.”
