Organisers are hoping that this year's York Residents Festival will be the best ever after thousands of families thronged the city centre all weekend.
Seventy-three attractions and businesses took part, and the city made the most of the chance to explore and enjoy its heritage from Roman times to 20th century nuclear war preparations. All pre-booked events were sold out well before the weekend.
Kay Hyde, head of communications at organisers Visit York said: "We are delighted so many local people came out to support it and so many businesses took part."
Some of the special offers continue this week and Visit York is keen to involve more restaurants, shops, cafes and other eateries in future years.
