AN ASPIRING actress has landed a role in a hit BBC drama.

Talented teenager Brittoni Phillips will play a rebellious goth in Last Tango in Halifax during Sunday's episode after securing the part in her first ever audition.

The 15-year-old will star as the daughter of Gary Jackson - played by Rupert Graves of Sherlock fame - and spent four days in Manchester filming scenes for the romantic drama.

She said: "It was brilliant and a great experience.

"I really enjoyed it.

"Everyone was so lovely and hilarious.

"It was great experience to learn about what it was like to be infront of the camera.

"My character is a bit of a rebel and I get drunk in the episode, so it's different from me because I'm a girly girl."

Brittoni, who is privately tutoured at home, is a student of Northern Film and Drama, in South Milford, where she attends regular television and film acting classes.

Her mum, Paula Smith, 33, runs a hair salon and Brittoni regularly helps out.

Mrs Smith added: "She's been into acting all her life and was pushed to do it since she was a little girl.

"She was always centre stage and has attended Northern Film and Drama for the last year.

"I cried when she got the part.

"It's a small part but she is a character in it and not an extra. She got her own hair and make up done as well, so it was cool for her."

Last Tango in Halifax stars Sarah Lancashire and was first broadcast in 2012.

It follows the romantic lives of characters in the West Yorkshire town and Brittoni's appearence will come in the final episode of the third series.
