LEAD actor and co-writer Celyn Jones and producer Andy Evans will attend the 11am and 6.30pm screenings of Set Fire To The Stars (15) at City Screen, York, on Monday, when they will take part in question-and-answer sessions after both shows.
Directed by Andy Goddard and shot in sumptuous black and white, this intriguing biopic and arty mood piece is an account of a few weeks in the life of hell-raising Welsh poet Dylan Thomas (played by newcomer Jones) as he embarks on a disastrous tour of American universities in the early 1950s. Jones makes a towering debut alongside a nicely subdued turn from Elijah Wood as Thomas's harassed companion, the American poet, literary critic and biographer John M Brinnin.
Goddard's film is elegantly scripted with an ear for the rich poetry of Thomas’s work, allied to a sense of period and moments of heightened magical realism. Tickets can be booked on 0871 902 5726 or at picturehouses.co.uk/cinema/york
