FOOTBALLERS from the York City squad brought happiness to poorly children yesterday.

Players Diego De Girolamo, Ryan Jarvis, Michael Coulson and Michael Jarvis visited Ward 17 at York Hospital and spoke with children who could face Christmas on the ward, including eleven year old Taylor Moore, who is recovering from pneumonia.

The players shared stories with the children, and left a collection of special presents for them.

Deputy Sister, Bridget Wilson, said: "There is always a lot of excitement when the football players come on the children's ward. They certainly put a smile on the children's faces, especially the football fans.

"They come every year and genuinely put a smile on some faces today. The children were quite excited and it caused quite a bit of a stir. We really appreciate them taking an interest and the children loved their goody bags."
