FIRE crews from across York took part in a training exercise at a York company on Monday.
Two teams from Huntington station and one from Acomb took part in the exercise, which imagined a chemical spill or incident at the Portakabin site in New Lane.
Steve King, crew manager at Huntington Fire Station, said the exercise was designed to ensure any future call-outs run smoothly, both for fire crews and workers at local businesses.
He said: "We have done a lot of work since then with some big employers in the area getting to know them and doing training venues and this has come off the back of that and they have been keen for us to take part in some realistic training. We think this will be one of many at different locations around the local area, we have irons in the fire at venues around the city.
"It will help them in procedures and future call-outs and information gathering and testing their call-out system and procedures and what information is held locally as well."
