LEGAL action is being taken against a bar with York connections, which left a teenager needing emergency surgery following a nitrogen-laced drink.
Gaby Scanlon, 18, from Heysham, Lancashire, was celebrating her birthday at Oscar’s Wine Bar in Lancaster in October 2012, when she drank two shots of Jagermeister, which had been laced with liquid nitrogen.
Doctors had to remove Miss Scanlon’s stomach and connect her oesophagus directly to her small bowel. Lancaster City Council announced this week that court proceedings would be taken against the bar, an employee, and director Andrew Dunn, of Old Earswick, York.
Mr Dunn has been summoned to court to answer charges of breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act. He is due to appear before magistrates in February.
