YORK Minster will play host next month to a graduation ceremony for apprentices.

The event on November 17 is one of several taking place across England to celebrate the achievements of all apprentices and raise the profile of apprenticeships, in a bid to put them on an equal footing with a university route to success.

City of York Council and York College are organising the event after government funding was recently awarded to host it.

Julia Massey, partnership manager at Learning City York, said the ceremony would celebrate the enormous success and achievement of all apprentices across the York region.

“Every single person who has completed an apprenticeship can be proud of what they have achieved. It is important that success is rewarded to encourage others to aspire to greater things, and that is what this ceremony will do.

This event will also help to raise the profile of apprenticeships and highlight how undertaking an apprenticeship can lead to a successful future. I would encourage anyone who has been invited to hurry and confirm their attendance.”
