A MYSTERIOUS artist has created installations around York, and is challenging the public to find them.

The tiny micro-installations have been appearing around the city for months, with pictures popping up on the anonymous artist's Twitter account.

The creator of the works goes by the name of @themouseprint, who has spoken to The Press.

Mouse Print said: "I could be anybody. I've lived in York for ten years. I was drawn towards miniature street art because of its simplicity.

"I've seen lots of street art around the world and have a real love for it. Because York is such a beautiful city full of iconic buildings and picturesque scenes the idea of a giant mural seems out of place. Living in York I often find myself overlooking some of the big iconic attractions, the minster, wall and shambles become nearly invisible."

So far the installations have appeared on Lendal Bridge, close to the Minster, and on benches and railings around the city. Mouseprint said they were created with one real aim.

Mouse Print said: "I'd like people to love them or hate them and maybe for some people to actually find them.

"Maybe I can remind people to look at the small things and hopefully even some locals may look at York again with fresh eyes."
