INVESTIGATIONS are ongoing after six members of staff at a rehabilitation hospital in York were suspended as a result of concerns about patient care.

An investigation was launched at Whitecross Court, off Huntington Road, earlier in the year amid allegations concerning standards of patient care, but not of neglect.

The final staff hearings are due to be held next week, York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said.

Mike Proctor, deputy chief executive at York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: "Six members of staff from Whitecross Court were suspended while we investigated allegations into standards of patient care at the hospital.

“The final two hearings are due to take place next week, which will conclude our investigations. To date no one has been arrested or had their employment with the Trust terminated.

“We took immediate action after staff raised concerns with hospital managers and the matter has been dealt with via the Trust’s HR policies and procedures.

“As part of our investigations we have also worked closely with the patients concerned and their families.

"We are committed to providing the very best standards of care, and this remains our top priority. We encourage staff to report any incidents where they feel the standard of patient care is below that which we would expect.”
