HUNDREDS of people turned up to the latest job fair in York.
The event was held at York Railway Institute and organised by City of York Council, with York Learning, Job Centre Plus and Learning City York, to help residents find out more about jobs available in the area.
About 50 businesses were present at the fair, with Amey, Hiscox, Nestle, G4S, Iceland, Premier Inn and others on site, with training providers also at the event to give tips on the best way to apply for jobs.
A similar event in May saw more than 1,000 people visit to find out more about employment opportunities in the city, and yesterday's event looked set to match that figure.
Councillor Janet Looker opened the event, and said: "A lot of people were talking and there were little queues for the advisors so it was very positive.
"I thought it looked like there was a real buzz. there were a lot of people outside waiting and what was very impressive was the mix of employers and also the advisory services and training opportunities, meaning it wasn't just a jobs fair, but offering advice and support too."
