SINGERS, dancers and jugglers from across the York area will descend on a city pub tomorrow night in the hope of making the big time.

Producers from TV 's Britain’s Got Talent show are staging an audition at The Spread Eagle in Walmgate, looking for a range of fresh talent for next year's series.

They said they wanted to see anyone with a talent they would like to share, no matter how big or small, or how old or young.

Landlord Nicholas Cope said at least 16 artists were set to take part in the auditions, including Mal Fry - 'a postie by day, singer by night' - local acoustic rock star Jimbo Doomface and Laura Kindelan, a 15-year-old singer/songwriter.

Others set to perform included university student Rachel Skelton, Ukelele man SBK KIngsley , singer/songwriter Harrison Rimmer, dancer Linda Roberts, university duo Lion papers, singer Guy Matthews,singer/songwriter Dylan Brierly and guitarist Owen Martin.

Also expected to take part were Unit8, a local band with an average age of 13 and the Magic Ball Man, Steve Bullen, a juggler who was a well-known sight in York city centre.

Mr Cope said producers were also looking for people with other talents, such as magicians and stand-up comedians, and people were welcome to turn up after 7pm without having registered beforehand, or they could call him on 01904 289390 for more details.

He said auditions were currently being held all over the region, with acts set to be captured on camcorder, but 'no chance' of presenters Ant and Dec turning up.

He believed the Spread Eagle was chosen to host York's audition because it had become a big music venue since he took over at the start of the year.

Tomorrow's event was set to run from 8pm until midnight, with dancers set to perform in the beer garden at the back and singers on a stage inside.
