A CYCLIST has been air lifted to hospital with serious injuries following a collision with a lorry on the A19.
The 49-year-old cyclist, from Pollington, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary at 9.10 this morning after losing a leg in the incident on the road near Eggborough.
The lorry is described as having a white cab with a white and blue trailer.
Police urged motorists to avoid the area after closing the Junction 34 slip road.
Traffic Sergeant Neale Rees, of the Force’s Roads Policing Group, said: “If you witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles involved just prior to the incident, I urge you to come forward and contact the police straight away.”
