A YORK 'rock school' has won a massive boost with the donation of six studio quality guitar and bass amps from city centre studios.
Tang Hall Rock School, part of the social enterprise Tang Hall SMART, received the unexpected gift from Melroseyard Studios in Walmgate York.
Rock school director Sue Williamson said it had been a great surprise to receive the 'brilliant and timely' gift, which would be massively appreciated by participants on its courses and at its six new clubs, which included an adult rock-school club, a teenage one, a children one and one for people with learning disabilities.
She added that Melrose Yard studios had already given a generous cash donation to help her offer concessions to people on benefits, so the extra gift was 'way beyond expectations.'
A spokesman for the studios said: “We are delighted to support this exciting new venture at Tang Hall SMART and believe that getting people involved with music and the arts is a fantastic way to enrich both individual lives and the wider community."
