RESIDENTS in the York suburb of Southbank are holding a community recycling event.

More than 30 households have signed up to take part in Planet Southbank’s Street Re-Cycle, a one-day event in which Southbank residents will convert their front gardens and yards into a treasure trove of goodies for selling, swapping and giving away.

The event, on Sunday 28 September, runs from 11am until 4pm and is promoted as a family-friendly occasion, with people able to follow a trail map of participating households.

Maps for the event cost £1 and are available from Pextons, Cycle Heaven, the Good Food Shop and Sainsbury's - all on Bishopthorpe Road. Applications for inclusion on the map are now closed.

The event has been organised by Pie Waller and Leah Bennett for local community group, Planet Southbank.
