A DRUNKEN alcoholic who shouted foul-mouthed abuse at police in York and then assaulted an officer has been jailed for 16 weeks.
York Magistrates were told that Adam Hudson, 32, of no fixed address, began swearing at a female police officer who had approached him in York city centre last Friday afternoon.
She called for assistance, and he was taken to York police station, said Martin Butterworth, prosecuting. He lashed out wildly, lunged forward and tried to head-butt and kick officers.
Craig Robertson, defending, saidasked magistrates to take account of guilty pleas by Hudson to offences including drunk and disorderly behaviour and assault of a police officer, and said he was an alcoholic.
βHe has an illness,β he told the court.
