A TRAGIC York baby who died aged just 10 months old will be remembered at a special event next month to raise money for the charity that helped her family through difficult times.

Baileigh Bluebell Kettlewell died in May, after spending a month in Leeds General Infirmary. During that time her family stayed at the SIck Children's Trust's Eckersley House close to the hospital, so she could be near her young daughter.

Mum Ruth Wynn, from Foxwood, said: "I have three other children, so if that house hadn't been available to us I don't know what we would have done. It is just an amazing place"

Now Ruth and friends Jason Angus and Lynne Burgess want to raise money for the charity, and are planning a family fun day at Foxwood Community Centre on Sunday, October 5.

Ruth added: "The community have really got behind us. Lots of people knew about Baileigh and the support has been amazing."

The event will run from 12-4pm with a bouncy castle and slide for children, face painting and temporary tattoos, and sumo suits.

Peppa and George Pig will pay a visit, and there will be food and drink available, a craft table, and other entertainments.

But the main attraction is a grand prize draw, with prizes donated by generous local people and businesses.

Ruth added: "The prize draw is going to be great. We've got prizes including two weekend breaks, hairdressers and sunbed vouchers, tickets for family days out and attractions like ten pin bowling, and cinema tickets, and shopping vouchers."

Entry to the fun day is free and prize draw tickets cost £5. All proceeds will go to the Sick Children's Trust, which runs the 22-bedroomed Eckersley House in Leeds and eight other "homes from home" around the country.

The houses provide comfortable accommodation for the families of sick children close to hospitals, so parents can be on hand while their children are treated and recover.
