DETECTIVES are searching for a missing burglar who is wanted for return to prison.

Kevin Robert Lewis, 31, from Station Square, Harrogate, was sentenced to two years and four months in prison for burglary in March 2013, but released last month on licence.

North Yorkshire Police said he is suspected of committing another burglary, and must return to custody, with searches taking place at addresses around Harrogate.

Detective Sergeant Kevin Kelly, of Harrogate CID, said: “Mr Lewis, if you see or hear this appeal, my advice is simple - hand yourself in. By remaining at large you are only making the inevitable outcome worse for yourself and prolonging your stay in prison when we catch up with you.

"I am asking members of the public who see Lewis to contact the police straight away. Officers have already visited addresses in the Harrogate area which we know Lewis has links to and the efforts to locate him will continue until he is back in custody. Lewis’ associates should know that harbouring an offender is a criminal offence and you face prison yourself if you are helping him to evade the police."

Lewis is white, 5ft 11in tall, with a skinny build and dark brown, balding hair and is believed to be in the Harrogate area.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
