CHOCOLATE treats made famous in York have been trumped by other big name bars, in a survey of thousands of enthusiasts.

Galaxy topped the list and Dairy Milk was second, beating off competition from bars made by York-based Nestle UK.

The York-born Aero was the highest Nestle snack on the list in third place, after 4,000 people took part in the summer poll by York's Chocolate Story.

Families were able to choose from top brands such as KitKat, Yorkie and Toffee Crisp, alongside other nationwide favourites including Snickers, Dairy Milk and the winner, Galaxy, which secured more than 2,000 votes.

York's Chocolate story is in King's Square and tells the story of York's chocolate history through tours and exhibits, including features on the city's famous confectionery-making families and their finest creations.

The attraction has a number of activities during school holidays, including themed trails, seasonal surprises and chocolate making.
