POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was knocked down by a cyclist on a pedestrian crossing in York.

Davinia Bevan, 28, of Fulford, was crossing Rougier Street over to Lendal Bridge last Friday morning when a cyclist allegedly went through a red light and hit her.

Mrs Bevan was knocked to the ground, hitting her head and suffering minor injuries.

The cyclist is understood to have stopped briefly but then cycled away.

Mrs Bevan, who was very shaken by the crash, was later given the all clear at A&E.

Her husband Chris Bevan, 31, said: “Both my wife and I cycle but some cyclists don’t realise the harm they can do with their bike.”

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police has asked anyone who witnessed the incident, or believe they are the cyclist in question, to contact the police control room on 101 quoting ref no 89 of September 12.
