AN ARMY captain from Tadcaster who survived a Taliban bullet and then attempted to climb Everest won a gold medal yesterday at Prince Harry’s new Invictus Games.
David Wiseman was competing for his country in the games in London, which saw more than 400 wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women from 14 nations take part in nine sports.
After winning gold in the 100 metre Men’s S14 100m Freestyle final, the 31 year-old father of two said: “There’s so many people from around the world here and we have all been through a lot, but here we are not being defined by our injuries and we are just smashing it.”
