HISTORIC properties across York will be among those throwing open their doors this weekend as part of the Heritage Open Days.
The National Trust's Beningbrough Hall and Gardens will be free for visitors this Saturday, while some rarely seen sights from York's medieval past will be on show in the city.
Caroline Hill, house manager at Beningbrough, said: “Open days are a special opportunity for visitors to bring friends and family and discover what’s in their neighbourhood.”
The day will give visitors chance to see the Royals: Then and Now exhibition, and a collection of informal photographs of the Royal family by Lord Litchfield.
Among the other attractions taking part in York are the the Fishergate Postern Tower and the Red Tower - open for only the second time in living memory.
Both towers will be opened by the Friends of York Walls on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm.
