ARTWORK by some of the biggest names in music and pop culture will be on display in York for a limited time only.

An exhibition featuring paintings and prints by Bob Dylan, Ronnie Wood and John Lennon will be held at Castle Galleries in Coppergate this week, with members of the public invited to take a look on Friday.

The artwork belongs to Syndicart, and an invitation-only event will be held at the gallery on Thursday, and will also include a rare Andy Warhol piece.

Rebecca Cox, gallery manager, said: "The body of work they have is around a musical theme, hence Bob Dylan and Ronnie Wood, and the Andy Warhol piece has been signed by Mick Jagger and Andy Warhol, and must be worth tens of thousands of pounds.

"It's a way of putting all the work together that you wouldn't normally see outside of London. We're having a display evening on Thursday by invitation only, but they should all be possible for the public to view on Friday before they are taken off to the next exhibit."

Rebecca said her favourite piece was Bob Dylan's Sidetracks, which is valued at £25,000, but the gallery also has limited edition prints which have been signed by the legendary folk singer which sell for about £2,000.

The gallery also hosts work by dozens of other artists, including Yorkshire-born Bob Barker, and is open to the public.

Rebecca said: "People are welcome to come in and have a look at everything we have. We represent more than 30 artists, including some local to Yorkshire and mainly British, but for us, this is great and we are delighted to have the exhibit here."
