SIX members of staff at a rehabilitation hospital in York have been suspended as a result of concerns about patient care.
An investigation has been launched at Whitecross Court, off Huntington Road, which helps rehabilitate elderly people.
A York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust spokesman said it was investigating allegations concerning standards of patient care, but not of neglect.
It is understood the investigation has been under way for some time.
Mike Proctor, deputy chief executive at the trust, said: “Six members of staff from Whitecross Court have been suspended while we investigate allegations into standards of patient care at the hospital.
“The trust took immediate action after staff raised concerns with hospital managers and an investigation is currently ongoing.
“As part of the investigation we have been working closely with the patients concerned and their families.
“We can make no further comment whilst our investigations are ongoing.
“We are committed to providing the very best standards of care, and this remains our top priority.
“ We encourage staff to report any incidents where they feel the standard of patient care is below that which we would expect.”
