DETECTIVES investigating an armed robbery in York have arrested a teenager today.

Two women working at MacRae's newsagent in Huntington Road were threatened with a gun in the robbery, which took place on Thursday, August 28.

The suspect made off with less than £200 and some cigarettes, and armed police searched the streets surrounding the shop following the robbery.

North Yorkshire Police have confirmed today that a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of the robbery at an address in Greenfields, off Haxby Road, this morning.

He is currently in police custody
