OFFICERS have been evacuated from Northallerton Police Station after a suspicious package was discovered outside the building.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and the road outside the town's station is closed.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Officers are currently dealing with an incident at Northallerton Police Station following the discovery of a suspicious package.
“As a precaution staff have been evacuated from the station as well as from two adjacent buildings. The road outside the station has also been temporarily closed pending the arrival of an army team from Catterick Garrison to check the package
“We would like to reassure local residents and visitors to the town that the incident is being dealt with professionally and the risk to the public is believed to be low."
