THE ice bucket challenge craze continues in York with staff from two city business taking their turn.

Workers at the York Boat took their drenching on Friday afternoon, following a nomination from Sarah Lewis and her family.

Sarah’s sister Leonie used to work for YorkBoat before her 20s, and the girls' father died of Motor Neurone Disease, so the craze supports a cause close to their hearts.

Kirsty Witham from YorkBoat said: "We couldn’t wait to get the buckets filled and throw some icy water over the team for such a great cause, thanks for the nomination."

The boat staff have passed the nomination forward - to their counterparts at Chester Boat, and staff at the Gillygate Pub and Visit York.

On Saturday, staff at Boots on Monks Cross took their drenching, after several of them were nominated by friends and family.

They dedicated their ice bucket challenge to the shop's official charity Macmillan as well as Motor Neurone Disease, and have already raised more than £600 with donation buckets in stores.

The Boots staff then nominated workers at the nearby John Lewis store to take the challenge.
