A SCARBOROUGH man received an eight-week custodial sentence just a day after he was caught drink-driving by police.

Todd Orlando Grisoli-Wittington, aged 19, of Lakeside, Primrose Valley, was stopped by police in Foreshore Road at 5.45am on Monday.

A roadside breath test found he had 56 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the limit is 35.

He was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, driving while disqualified and without insurance, and later charged with these offences and remanded in custody.

Appearing at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court the following day (Tuesday, August 26), he pleaded guilty to all offences and was sent to a young offender institution for eight weeks, and banned from driving for three years and four months.

Constable Gareth Gilleard said: “This man has found himself with a criminal record at the start of his adult life which will impact his future, including his job prospects. “Putting passengers and other road users at risk is unacceptable and I hope the swift justice handed out in this case serves as a warning to anyone who contemplates drink driving.”
