YORK station's chaplain has been shortlisted for a European diversity award.
The Rev Dr Stephen Sorby, who is the region’s Railway and British Transport Police Chaplain and is based at York station, is going through to the final stage of the 2014 European Diversity Awards.
Judges put him in the top eight in the category for Inspirational Role Model of the Year after learning about his work supporting and caring for people on the railways.
He will compete against Hustle actress Sophie Ward for the award, which promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
Dr Sorby's nomination recognises his work making stations dementia friendly, promoting suicide prevention and leading World AIDS Day services.
