A MAIN road into York has seen heavy traffic this morning, after a large amount of topsoil was spilled.
Traffic has built up on the A19 near Fulford, just after the turn off from the A64, as a large section of the road is covered in the soil.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed they were called to the scene just before 8am, and were ensuring traffic moved safely around the spillage.
In the last ten minutes, they have left the situation with City of York Council and the Highways Agency.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys if they are travelling towards York on the A19, or take an alternative route.
