AN ELDERLY woman was in serious condition last night, after a crash on the outskirts of York.
The woman, believed to be in her eighties, was the passenger in a Skoda car and suffered serious chest injuries in a crash with a Toyota Yaris, which took place near the junction of Manor Heath and Hallcroft Lane in Copmanthorpe at about 5.30pm yesterday.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was also called to the scene at about 6.10pm, and transported the woman to Leeds General Infirmary, where she remained with injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening.
Three other people were taken to hospital, including another woman, believed to be in her forties, who was driving the Skoda, and two younger men from the Toyota.
All three were believed to have suffered minor injuries.
The road was closed in both directions for several hours while investigations took place.
