MORE than 20 young carers attended a curry night arranged by the Lord Mayor's charity committee at the Jinnah Restaurant in York.

Kirsten Ovenden, chairman of the committee said: “We have a great appreciation of all carers, particularly those who are in their teens, and wanted to provide them with an evening out in recognition of their work.”

The young people travelled to Jinnah in Pullman Coaches who provided the transport and were met by the Lord Mayor Cllr Ian Gillies.

Cllr Gillies said: “I am deeply indebted to Saleem at Jinnah and Tom James at Pullman for their help and contributions which have enabled us to arrange the evening for these deserving young people, who contribute so much to those who they care for, much of which goes un-noticed.”
