EMPTY offices above shops on Micklegate could be converted into flats under plans submitted to City of York Council.
The scheme would see three new homes created at numbers 31 and 37 Micklegate, replacing disused office space above a bridal shop and behind an estate agent.
Two new flats in each building will have between one and two bedrooms each, and in a design and access statement prepared for the application, COG Architecture say the plans allow the historic listed building to be brought back into use.
“The conversion of the existing offices into flats is necessary to deal with the lack of demand for the office accommodation. The proposal is in line with the renewal of city centre living and re-emerging trend to provide accommodation once again above shops and meet the demand for residential space in York.”
