A 28-YEAR-OLD York man suffered head, shoulder and arm injuries when he was attacked in The Groves area of the city.
North Yorkshire Police said two men assaulted the man in Neville Terrace, sometime between 12.20am and 12.40am on Sunday.
They chased him on to Eldon Street and then Eldon Terrace before being disturbed by local residents and running off towards Walpole Street.
The victim was taken to York Hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.
Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any other information that can help the investigation to call them on101.
