AN MP has turned postie for a day in York to find out what is involved in delivering the mail.
York Outer MP Julian Sturdy, who joined local postman David Rosenberg on his delivery round, is one of a number of MPs invited to go out with postmen and women across the UK to gain an insight into the challenges of delivering mail to every house and business in their constituency.
Delivery manager Terry Gray, who briefed the MP before he set off on his round, said: "The visit gave us the opportunity to show Julian how we are modernising and transforming the organisation. We are delivering more parcels and fewer letters than ever before and the tools for the job need to reflect that.”
Mr Sturdy said: “There can be no better way of getting an insight into the work involved in delivering the mail on a daily basis than actually going out and doing the job alongside a delivery postman.“
