SEVERAL protesters locked and super-glued themselves to gates outside a new fracking site at Crawberry Hill, near Beverley, in East Yorkshire.

The protest was part of a day of action by anti-fracking campaigners across the country.

The No Dash For Gas campaign group said the protest was in reaction to the release of a Government report which they say contains 63 redactions on the potential impacts of shale gas exploration on rural communities.

The protesters claim deleted sections in the report include analysis around falling house prices and failing rural services.

They say the chapter examining the effect of drilling on house prices had three sections cut out of it.

But a Government spokesman said: “There is no evidence that house prices have been affected in over half a century of oil and gas exploration in the UK or evidence that this would be the case with shale.

“This Government believes that shale has a positive part to play in our future energy mix, providing energy security, driving growth and creating jobs.”

Campaigners also protested outside gas company IGas’s offices in central London, while others targeted Cuadrilla’s northern offices in Lancashire.

In Swansea, protesters dressed as “mad scientists”, have targeted Swansea University’s Bay Campus, opposing publicly-funded research into fracking.
