THERE has been an increase in parents from Yorkshire and the Humber taking a break from family life on adult-only holidays.

Thomson said it has had a 46 per cent increase in bookings in the last two years fuelled by a surge in demand from worn-out parents taking holidays without their children.

It claims more than 28 per cent of parents of children under 18 from Yorkshire and the Humber already take child-free holidays, leaving their children with ex-partners or other family members.

Of those who currently holiday with their children, 61 per cent said that, given the chance, they would go away without them.

Mark Hall, director of product said; “Family holidays are undoubtedly a great way to spend time together.

“But even the most dedicated of parents need time away from their children sometimes.

“An adults-only holiday can allow couples to reconnect with each other and have a well-deserved break.”
