BURGLARS have made away with a vast haul of items from a North Yorkshire family home - including a child's money box.

Thieves broke into the property in White Street, Selby, taking sentimental items including a silver tube containing a christening certificate and a child’s Disney Princess money box.

Other items taken were a Frozen fancy dress costume and a pink Vtech Intro tablet, jewellery, including Plymouth Argyll, Armani, Fossil and Tissot wristwatches, silver dice cufflinks, Swarovski, pearl and silver necklaces and earrings and a brooch shaped like a horse’s head.

The burglars also stole electronic equipment including a Toshiba flat screen television and laptop computer, a Samsung laptop computer, MP3 players and a TomTom satellite navigation system.

The robbery happened between 9.30pm on August 5 and 8.30am on August 6, when burglars broke into the house causing extensive damage to a door.

PC Nicola Gill, of Selby Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If you were in the White Street area during the time of the burglary and noticed anyone acting suspiciously, I ask you to come forward and contact the police immediately.

“I am also keen to speak to anyone who has been offered any items matching the description of that stolen, and urge them to contact the police straight away.”
