A MAN who was left with serious injuries after being stabbed in York remains in hospital but his condition has improved, police have said.

The 28-year-old's condition is now "stable and no longer critical," a North Yorkshire Police spokesman said today.

The victim was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary with critical injuries after being attacked in Stuart Road in Acomb at about 2am on Saturday.

Police have arrested and bailed a 39-year-old suspect and found a knife they believe was used in the attack.

Anyone with information is still asked to phone police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
