A MAN last night remained in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed in York.
The 28-year-old was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary in a critical condition after he was attacked in Stuart Road at about 2am on Saturday. His condition was yesterday described as “stable”.
Shortly after the incident, York police arrested a 39-year-old man, and yesterday they said they had found a knife. Both men are local.
As the older man was being questioned and medics tended to the younger, scenes of crime officers carried out investigations at the scene and a house in Stuart Road was cordoned off and guarded by police while they carried out enquiries inside.
Other officers carried out enquiries and conducted a search around the house and in the local area.
They put out an appeal for the public to help them find the weapon used in the attack and a police spokesman confirmed yesterday that they had found a kitchen knife, which they believe was used to stab the 28-year-old man in the abdomen.
Police also said yesterday that the man arrested on Saturday had been released on bail while detectives carry out more inquiries.
They appealed again to the public for anyone who witnessed the incident or knew anything about it to contact York CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
