CITY of York Council has one of the fewest numbers of executives on top salaries, according to the Tax Payers Alliance.
The campaign group’s Town Hall Rich List was issued yesterday, and shows that in both 2011/12 and 2012/13 a total of four council employed staff earned more than £100,000.
At North Yorkshire County Council, that number was eight in both financial years, and in East Yorkshire, nine.
The district councils of Ryedale, Harrogate and Hambleton each employ just one member of staff on more than £100,000, while at Selby District Council the top salaried chief executive earned £93,000.
Across the seven councils, the most highly paid executive in 2012/13 was East Riding chief executive’s Nigel Pearson on £170,000, while North Yorkshire’s chief executive Richard Flinton took home £165,000 and City of York’’s chief executive Kersten England earned £136,000.
