A LIVE webchat will mark the start of a month of motorcycle safety action by North Yorkshire Police.

Deputy Chief Constable Tim Madgwick will host the chat, which will focus on the importance of wearing protective clothing and further training to improve riding skills, but the public can ask any questions about motorcycling safety and law.

DCC Madgwick is also the Association of Chief Police Officers’ (ACPO) national lead for motorcycling, and will be joined by road safety experts and specialist police officers from across the region, including Traffic Sergeant Sean Grey from the police’s motorcycle unit, Fiona Ancell, road safety and travel awareness officer for North Yorkshire County Council, and Traffic Sergeant Clare Sawyer, the force’s casualty reduction officer.

DCC Madgwick said: “Road safety is a major priority for the police service and we need the co-operation of all road users to help keep the roads as safe as we can.

“The more opportunities we have to talk to motorcyclists and other members of the public, the better we can help them to help us to improve road safety.”

The webchat will take place on Monday, between 6pm and 7pm at northyorkshire.police.uk/webchat
