YORK Central MP Hugh Bayley visited the Children's Society to hear about transport issues for disabled youngsters in the city.
Mr Bayley met senior project worker, Fenella Stafford, and eight disabled young people who meet regularly to discuss issues that are important to them, in hope to make positive changes within their community. The group raised the issue of bus timetables and bus stations in York and surrounding areas and how they can be improved.
The Children’s Society, alongside the Future Links Project in York, work with young people aged 14-25 with disabilities and additional needs.
Mr Bayley said: “It is inspiring to meet with a group of young people who believe that they can really make a difference in our community. Working together to help develop York’s transportation system is a fantastic place to start.
"Charities such as the Children’s Society and the Future Links Project that help young people with disabilities and additional needs are invaluable, as they help give young people the confidence they sometimes lack.”
