THE Honey Monster will lead a group of runners from a York-based charity in Sunday's race.

The Guy Francis Bone Cancer Research Fund, founded by Guy Francis, of Wheldrake, in 2002, shortly before his death, has entered a team of runners in the York 10K every year since 2009.

Team Why Guy? raises funds for research into primary bone cancer, the UK's number 1 teenage cancer.

Guy’s father, Mike Francis, said: "Having the Honey Monster there to lead the team will help raise awareness of bone cancer and how it affects young people.

“I can’t help but think that the Honey Monster bears a striking resemblance to Guy’s brother-in-law, Matt – but I could be wrong!"he said.

"I just hope the weather isn’t too hot for him on Sunday. It would be fantastic if people could contact us to become volunteers at the Water & Sponge Station to cool him down en route."
