YORK people can have their say on council services in the city at a special engagement event tomorrow.

The open "Rewiring" event takes place 9.30am-3.30pm in the council's West Offices and is the first of two exercises asking people for their ideas and concerns about everyday services, from bin collections and recycling to roads and parking, childcare services and adult services. It is part of the council's "Rewiring public services" programme of overhauling service delivery.

Ideas and views will be added to a Post-it note wall and will become part of an ongoing transformation of services. Residents and staff will also be able to use the event to find out more about the Rewiring Public Services programme overall.

A second session takes place on Wednesday, August 6 and will see council officers taking to public transport, and more events are planned for supermarkets, parks and community halls in the near future.

Councillors hope the events will help the council better understand what people want from public services.
