South Yorkshire Police confirmed this afternoon that John Heald, 53, was arrested near the Parkgate Retail Park in Rotherham today.
Humberside Police have been working with the force to search for the killer of Bei Carter, 49.
Mrs Carter was landlady of the Morayland Hotel, in Marshall Avenue, Bridlington, which she ran with her husband Terry.
She was found dead last Friday, and a manhunt was launched, and police had appealed to John Heald to contact them.
A spokesman for Humberside Police said: "John Heald, 53, was arrested by officers from South Yorkshire Police at around 2.15pm today in the Parkgate area. He is currently in police custody.
"South Yorkshire Police and Humberside Police would like to thank the public for their support throughout this investigation."
