RACEGOERS are gearing up to have some fun fun fun with a weekend of live music at York Racecourse.

The Beach Boys and Wet Wet Wet will perform over the coming weekend which promises to be anything but wet if forecast predictions are correct.

With highs of 24 degrees expected across the two days of racing, York Racecourse has relaxed the dress code so that racegoers do not have to wear formal jackets in the County Stand.

Men will be able to wear a collared shirt and tie with the option of wearing a Hawaiian shirt without a tie on Friday evening ahead of The Beach Boys performance. Wet Wet Wet will perform on Saturday.

For those who decide to don their best flowery shirt there will be a £2 discount on the gate for both the County Stand and Grandstand and Paddock.

Head of marketing and sponsorship for the racecourse James Brennan said that additional preparations have been put in place to ensure that they are prepared for the hot weather.

He said: “The team has adjusted their preparations to allow for a hot one, so bring a hat and some sun cream and enjoy the action.

“Summer has arrived and we are looking forward to welcoming racegoers to watch some great racing and music entertainment.”

But it is not just the guests who will be given a helping hand to keep cool over the weekend; water misting fans will be used to help keep the horses cool as well.

Tickets are available on the gate or through the website at www.yorkracecourse.co.uk
