A YORK schoolgirl who started dancing when she was three-years-old has been given a highly sought after place with the Royal Ballet.

Eight-year-old Amie Wade from Haxby will now train with the prestigious ballet company in Leeds every weekend.

The Headlands Primary School pupil won the place after her dance teacher Rebecca Davies suggested she audition.

Claire Wade, Amie's mum, said: "She was absolutely delighted. Amie has danced from the age of three, she has got the poise and she loves it. We never thought it would lead to this. We're very proud."
